B.B. King - Completely Well (1969/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: B.B. King
Title: Completely Well
Genre: Blues, Modern Electric Blues, Soul-Blues, Memphis Blues
Label: © Geffen Records
Release Date: 1969/2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 50:08
Recorded: June 24-25, 1969, The Hit Factory, New York

Completely Well was B.B. King's breakthrough album in 1969, which finally got him the long-deserved acclaim that was no less than his due. It contained his signature number, "The Thrill Is Gone," and eight other tunes, six of them emanating from King's pen, usually in a co-writing situation. Hardliners point to the horn charts and the overdubbed strings as the beginning of the end of King's old style that so identifiably earmarked his early sides for the Bihari Brothers and his later tracks for ABC, but this is truly the album that made the world sit up and take notice of B.B. King. The plus points include loose arrangements and a small combo behind him that never dwarfs the proceedings or gets in the way. King, for his part, sounds like he's having a ball, playing and singing at peak power. This is certainly not the place to start your B.B. King collection, but it's a nice stop along the way before you finish it. --AllMusic Review by Cub Koda

Recorded at AlfaMusic Studio, Roma, Italy by Alessandro Guardia

The vocalist Antonella Vitale, one of the most interesting interpreters of the new Italian Jazz scene, was born artistically in Rome in the early nineties and her undisputed vocal capabilities have always been accompanied by her research for an innovative style. This new production of her is based vaguely on some of the more significant compositions by Burt Bacharach and goes on moving through standards of the same harmonic and melodic intensity given by authors like H. Carmichael and G. Gershwin. The four original pieces recall the same atmosphere, linking together the traditional international jazz to our own Mediterranean musicality. The original musical arrangements made by Andrea Beneventano makes listening even more intense and involving. Supporting the Album realisation were: Francesco Puglisi at the double-bass, Lorenzo Tucci at the drums, Andrea Beneventano at the piano, and Aldo Bassi appearing as a special guest star at the trumpet. Particular attention was given to the tracks mixing phase, which was done in collaboration with the dear friend and expert Stefano Isola who did this job by using digital techniques though maintaining great warmth.

Alison Krauss - Windy City (2017) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Alison Krauss
Title: Windy City
Genre: Country, Country Pop
Label: © Capitol Records
Release Date: 2017
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit

Duration: 00:47:45
Recorded by Neal Cappellino, Tony Castle, T.W. Cargile

Twenty-seven-time GRAMMY Award winner Alison Krauss will release Windy City on February 17, her first effort away from her band Union Station since Raising Sand and her debut for Capitol Records. The album features Alison performing 10 classic songs that she carefully selected with producer Buddy Cannon. The pre-order for Windy City launched today along with the release of the album’s lead track “Losing You.” Following Raising Sand, her platinum 2007 album with Robert Plant that won six GRAMMY Awards including Album of the Year, and 2011’s Paper Airplane with her longtime collaborators Union Station, which won the GRAMMY Award for Best Bluegrass Album and topped Billboard’s Folk, Country and Bluegrass charts, Alison began to feel the tug of inspiration. “Usually it’s just all songs first,” she says. “It was the first time I’d ever not had songs picked out, and it was just about a person.” That person was veteran Nashville producer Buddy Cannon. Alison had always enjoyed the occasional recording sessions she did for Buddy. But something else happened when she came in to sing her lead lines on Hank Cochran’s “Make The World Go Away” for Jamey Johnson’s 2012 album Living For A Song. “That was absolutely the moment,” she says. “Wow! Buddy really makes me want to do a good job.” Buddy has used his playing, songwriting and production skills to bring out the best in a wide variety of artists since the early 70’s. He has written award-winning and chart-topping songs for artists such as Vern Gosdin, Mel Tillis, George Strait, Glen Campbell, George Jones and Don Williams. He has also won the ACM’s “Producer Of The Year” award and produced albums for Willie Nelson, George Jones, Dolly Parton, Reba McEntire, Alabama, Loretta Lynn, Kenny Chesney, and even Merle Haggard’s final solo album. At the beginning Alison thought the songs chosen should be older than herself. “I wanted it to be earlier than I remembered,” she explains. And although the two of them subsequently decided to relax those boundaries just a little, it was only to allow in songs that somehow had the same kind of feeling as the others. Mostly, it turned out, these were songs of heartache, but of a distinct and particular kind. What she and Buddy have created is an unusual and invigorating chimera – an album suffused with sadness that somehow rarely sounds that way. “It’s almost like you didn’t know it was sad,” Alison says, “because it doesn’t sound weak. It doesn’t have a pitiful part to it, where so many sad songs do. But these don’t. And I love that about it. I love that there’s strength underneath there. That whatever those stories are, they didn’t destroy. That that person made it right through it. I love that.” Alison inhabits – and liberates – the very essence that makes each of the songs eternal. While they span different eras and musical genres, there is a unifying sensibility. Some of the songs are familiar – like “Gentle On My Mind,” a signature song of Glen Campbell’s, and “You Don’t Know Me” which was a hit for Eddy Arnold and Ray Charles. Others were lesser known, like Willie Nelson’s “I Never Cared For You” and “All Alone Am I,” originally recorded by Brenda Lee. Some were songs she’d never heard before; some were songs she’d known nearly her whole life, particularly those she brought in from the bluegrass world. Alison had no idea when she suggested to Buddy that they record “Dream of Me,” a song she recalled from childhood, that he had written it. It took some persuasion, but he agreed to sing backup on the track, along with his daughter Melonie Cannon.

Recorded: Recorded and mixed at Sandlane Recording Facilities, The Netherlands. Zaher Zorgati's vocals recorded in Kevin Codfert Studio, Paris, France.

After the successful release of Sacrificium (2014) and their intensive tour with over 150 shows, that took them around the globe, it’s time to release a new inspiring dimension in the world of Xandria: Please welcome Theater Of Dimensions!
“We brought back plenty of memories, sometimes just bits and pieces, but those stuck to our heads. And it made us see who we are and where we wanted to take our music. All this makes the most colourful Xandria album so far. It contains our most heavy and most emotional moments.” A confident statement by a band that knows it`s ready for a big, big step! German Epic Symphonic Metal stalwarts Xandria found stability with singer Dianne van Giersbergen and now take things to the next level with their seventh studio album, once more produced in loving detail by Joost van den Broek. Theater of Dimensions is a hyper-emotional affair – and a very heavy one too, naturally. High class guest vocals can be heard by mighty Henning Basse (Firewind), Zaher Zorgati (Myrath), Björn Strid (Soilwork) and Ross Thompson (Van Canto). There is a soundtrack-like, orchestral finesse inherent to the compositions, echoed by pounding groove and sophisticated shredding. Folklore and ballad chime in (‘Forsaken love‘), heavy thrash rears its ugly head (‘We are murderers (we all)‘), and overall there is no doubt: Xandria are not only fearless, they are at their most entertaining and thrilling!

The LSO counts the finest orchestral players among its members and its principal players, originating from over 20 countries, are renowned soloists in their own right. Many of these players have developed new ensembles within the Orchestra to hone their incredible musicianship in different ways - from recent recordings of Reich by the LSO Percussion Ensemble to unique chamber performances of Stravinsky The Soldier’s Tale and Mozart Gran Partita. The LSO String Ensemble, directed by Orchestra Leader Roman Simovic and featuring virtuoso principals from each section, are a key example of this practice, showcasing the wealth of talent that the London Symphony Orchestra has to offer. Following two well-received releases, the LSO String Ensemble continues on LSO Live with three English masterpieces, two of which given their first performances by the Orchestra. Premiered in 1910 by the LSO, Vaughan Williams’ Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis is a visionary fusion of folksong and sacred music. Britten’s Variations on a Theme of Frank Bridge, a challenging landmark of 20th-century string writing, takes the composer’s friend and teacher as its subject with each variation exploring a different aspect of Bridge’s character. Opening the album, Elgar’s Introduction and Allegroi is an incredibly well-loved work with a special significance for the LSO, having been composed for and premiered by the Orchestra.

Theo Bleckmann - Elegy (2017) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Theo Bleckmann
Title: Elegy
Genre: Jazz, Avant-Garde Jazz, Modern Jazz Vocals, Vocal Jazz
Label: © ECM Records GmbH
Release Date: 2017
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: Qobuz
Duration: 00:47:04
Recorded: January 2016, Avatar Atudios, New York

Beyond being a vocalist of rare purity and daring, Theo Bleckmann is a sound painter who creates what JazzTimes has described aptly as “luminous webs” in music. The German-born New Yorker – after appearing on two ECM albums by Meredith Monk and another by Julia Hülsmann – makes his striking label debut as a leader with Elegy. This album showcases Bleckmann as a composer as much as a singer, with several instrumental pieces voiced by what he calls his “ambient” band of kindred-spirit guitarist Ben Monder, keyboardist Shai Maestro and the subtle rhythm team of Chris Tordini and John Hollenbeck. Highlights include Bleckmann’s sublime rendition of Stephen Sondheim’s “Comedy Tonight” (“tragedy tomorrow… comedy tonight”), as well as the mellifluous vocalise of “Little Elegy” and achingly poetic “To Be Shown to Monks at a Certain Temple.”
"This record is called Elegy for a reason – each of its songs relates to death or transcendence in some existential way,” Bleckmann explains. “Several of the pieces are instrumental, with ‘Cortege’ a funeral march. In the song ‘Take My Life,’ I imagine what it would be like to die, losing facility bit by bit: losing your voice, your heartbeat, your breath. I wrote that one thinking about Bach and his cantatas, especially ‘Ich habe genug,’ which is about joyfully going into the afterlife. For this album, I wanted to create songs that deal with this subject matter not in a morbid way but with some light to it.”
