Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees and Grammy Award-winning rock band Green Day release their 12th studio album, entitled Revolution Radio, via Reprise Records.
Produced by Green Day and recorded in Oakland, Revolution Radio is a potent 12-track blitz of angst-ridden anthems that unites Green Day's fully formed stylistic approach with lyrical themes that address the complexities and uncertainties of modern day existence. Musically, the album is raw, visceral, and fearless - solidifying the band's reign as one of the leading voices in rock music. First single Bang Bang was inspired by recent events and marks a welcome return from a band with more to say than ever.
"Of course the world has lost its collective mind… and me, Mike and Tré are lost souls too," said Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong. "'Revolution Radio' is a movement for lost souls to come together… dance together… sing together... and most of all, find each other. That's what the spirit of Green Day has been about since day one."

Has it really already been 50 years since The Grateful Dead released their debut album? My, my, those half-centuries certainly do fly by…
In commemoration of this momentous anniversary, we’re kicking off an equally-momentous, utterly epic album reissue series of the Dead’s back catalog, one which involves two-disc deluxe editions and limited-edition picture disc versions of all the group’s studio and live albums. The original albums will have newly remastered sound, the second disc of each will contain unreleased recordings, and the 12” picture discs will contain that same newly-remastered audio. Mind you, it’ll be a limited-edition situation with the vinyl reissues, so if you don’t rush to get one of the 10,000 copies we’re producing, you’ll be out of luck.
In the case of THE GRATEFUL DEAD: 50th ANNIVERSARY DELUXE EDITION, the bonus disc features the band’s complete unreleased concert from July 29, 1966 and select cuts from July 30, 1966 at the P.N.E. Garden Auditorium in British Columbia. The band's performances at the Vancouver Trips Festival are among only a handful of recordings that exist from the Dead's first two years, so just know what a big deal this is.

Glenn Hughes - Resonate (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/44,1kHz

Artist: Glenn Hughes
Title: Resonate
Genre: Rock, Hard Rock
Label: © Frontiers Records
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 44,1kHz/24bit
Source: ProStudioMasters
Duration: 50:52
Recorded: Medley Studio, Copenhagen, Denmark; and Command Studios, London, England

Best-known for his work with Deep Purple, Glenn Hughes doesn't rest on his laurels on his first solo album in eight years, Resonate. In addition to his tight live band, Hughes is joined by friend and Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith on the opening and closing tracks. Resonate might well be the heaviest of Hughes's solo albums, but as is his trademark, musical diversity shines through, blending the finest elements of hard rock, soul and funk.

"It’s heavy in content lyrically and it’s musically heavy, but it’s got a lot of groove ... I think it’s quite dramatic ... there’s a lot of light and shade. But the emphasis is really heavy grooves and that’s what I write ... everybody needs to know that this is absolutely a return to rock music as a solo artist for me. My work is very varied ... but this album is probably THE heaviest record I’ve done in at least 25 years. It’s dense. It’s dark. There’s some aggression on this record. Every bloody track is begging to be played live." --Glenn Hughes

Best known for her Grammy-winning folk hit "We'll Sing in the Sunshine," Gale Garnett later carved out a long-lived career as a writer and actress.
Gale Zoë Garnett was born in Auckland, New Zealand, on July 17, 1942; her family moved to Canada when she was 11, and she made her public singing debut in 1960. In 1964, Garnett scored a Top Five pop hit with her original composition "We'll Sing in the Sunshine," and recorded her debut album, My Kind of Folk Songs, for RCA Victor. Riding the success of "We'll Sing in the Sunshine," which won a Grammy for Best Folk Recording, Garnett continued to record through the rest of the '60s, eventually breaking into psych-pop with a backing band called the Gentle Reign.
Toward the end of the 1960s, she also began appearing in feature films and on television shows, usually in supporting roles. In subsequent years, Garnett also branched out into journalism, writing essays, columns, and book reviews for various newspapers and magazines. Additionally, she wrote and performed two one-person theater pieces, Gale Garnett & Company and Life After Latex. --Artist Biography by Steve Huey

Ferdinand Fischer - From Heaven on Earth - Hubert Hoffmann (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/352,8kHz

Сomposer: P. Ferdinand Fischer (1652-1725)
Artist: Hubert Hoffmann
Title: From Heaven on Earth - Lute Music from Kremsmünster Abbey
Genre: Classical
Label: © Challenge Records | Northstar Recordings
Release Date: 11 January 2017
Quality: Digital eXtreme Definition FLAC Stereo 352,8kHz/24bit
Duration: 01:01:32
Recording location: Galaxy Studio, Mol, Belgium
Recording dates: 24-25 November 2015

Hubert Hoffmann: When I visited the Benedictine Abbey of Kremsmünster in Upper Austria some years ago to look at the lutes stored in the abbey archives, I could not guess that this visit would radically change my life as a lutenist. I learnt that the writer of tablatures I discovered was a member of the abbey named Pater Ferdinando (Fischer). It soon turned out that much of the music set down by this scribe was not to be found in the numberless lute manuscripts from this period scattered around the world. These were unique manuscripts. Moreover they contained quite extraordinary works of striking compositional quality: new lute music in the form of cyclical poems of a lute enthusiast – a padre – at the turn of the 17th/18th centuries.
In one of the quietest recording studios in all of Europe – the Galaxy studios in Mol, Belgium – we finally brought the long since faded lute-poems of Pater Ferdinando back to life. Through the wonderfully delicate sound of my lute, Bert’s immeasurable sensitivity and the most advanced recording technology that I have ever had the privilege of using, the lutenist-pater began speaking to us once more.
Contextually Fischer’s putative original compositions are only distinguishable from the other anonymous works through their stylistic features. The first clue is to be found in the considerable proportion of previously completely unknown cycles, whose exquisite quality, high degree of originality and compositional autonomy, together with the considerable technical demands they make upon the player, lead us to assume a common authorship.

Recorded by Will Ackerman for Imaginary Road Studios on a Steinway B; Mastered by Bob Ludwig, Gateway Mastering

It’s a long way from Australia to Vermont – about 10,000 miles to be more precise, but the journey was worth it for pianist/composer Fiona Joy Hawkins to have her album recorded and produced by the legendary Windham Hill Records founder Will Ackerman. As it turned out, the experience was equally rewarding for him as well. In Will’s own words: “ ‘Blue Dream’ began as the most ambitious project of my entire career and resulted in one of the most remarkable collaborations this genre has ever known. ‘Blue Dream’ is unique and I’m as proud of it (and Fiona) as anything I’ve ever worked on in my 35 year career of Grammy Awards and gold and platinum records.” That is lofty praise indeed coming from someone who has worked with some of the most talented instrumentalists in contemporary music. There were no shortage of them on this album either which included T-Bone Wolk from Hall and Oates, post-Dylan singer-songwriter Luka Bloom, cellist Eugene Friesen of the Paul Winter Consort, Jeff Haynes from the Pat Metheny Group, and many others too numerous to mention.

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Tarkus (1971/2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Release Date: 1971/2016

Recorded: January 1971 at Advision Studios in London

Emerson, Lake & Palmer's 1970 eponymous LP was only a rehearsal. It hit hard because of the novelty of the act (allegedly the first supergroup in rock history), but felt more like a collection of individual efforts and ideas than a collective work. All doubts were dissipated by the release of Tarkus in 1971. Side one of the original LP is occupied by the 21-minute title epic track, beating both Genesis' "Supper's Ready" and Yes' "Close to the Edge" by a year. Unlike the latter group's cut-and-paste technique to obtain long suites, "Tarkus" is a thoroughly written, focused piece of music. It remains among the Top Ten classic tracks in progressive rock history. Because of the strength of side one, the material on the album's second half has been quickly forgotten -- with one good reason: it doesn't match the strength of its counterpart -- but "Bitches Crystal" and "A Time and a Place" make two good prog rock tracks, the latter being particularly rocking. "Jeremy Bender" is the first in a series of honky tonk-spiced, Far-West-related songs. This one and the rock & roll closer "Are You Ready Eddy?" are the only two tracks worth throwing away. Otherwise Tarkus makes a very solid album, especially to the ears of prog rock fans -- no Greg Lake acoustic ballads, no lengthy jazz interludes. More accomplished than the trio's first album, but not quite as polished as Brain Salad Surgery, Tarkus is nevertheless a must-have. --AllMusic Review by François Couture

Emerson, Lake & Palmer - Emerson, Lake & Palmer (1970/2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Recorded: July–September 1970, Advision Studios, London, England

Lively, ambitious, almost entirely successful debut album, made up of keyboard-dominated instrumentals ("The Barbarian," "Three Fates") and romantic ballads ("Lucky Man") showcasing all three members' very daunting talents. This album, which reached the Top 20 in America and got to number four in England, showcased the group at its least pretentious and most musicianly -- with the exception of a few moments on "Three Fates" and perhaps "Take a Pebble," there isn't much excess, and there is a lot of impressive musicianship here. "Take a Pebble" might have passed for a Moody Blues track of the era but for the fact that none of the Moody Blues' keyboard men could solo like Keith Emerson. Even here, in a relatively balanced collection of material, the album shows the beginnings of a dark, savage, imposingly gothic edge that had scarcely been seen before in so-called "art rock," mostly courtesy of Emerson's larger-than-life organ and synthesizer attacks. Greg Lake's beautifully sung, deliberately archaic "Lucky Man" had a brush with success on FM radio, and Carl Palmer became the idol of many thousands of would-be drummers based on this one album (especially for "Three Fates" and "Tank"), but Emerson emerged as the overpowering talent here for much of the public. --AllMusic Review by Bruce Eder
