Recorded live at The Bottom Line in New York, The Roxy in Los Angeles and the Agora in Cleveland

Back to the Bars is a live album by rock musician Todd Rundgren, which was released as a double LP in 1978. The album was recorded during week-long stints in New York City (The Bottom Line), Los Angeles (The Roxy), and Cleveland (The Agora). The music featured the best of Rundgren's most commercial work spanning seven of the eight solo albums released in the 1970s up to, but not including his most recent at the time. This effort was in place of rumors of a re-release of his out-of-print first two LPs, Runt, and Runt. The Ballad of Todd Rundgren. The only offering from those being "The Range War", and the bulk for material coming from Something/Anything?, A Wizard, a True Star, Todd, Initiation, and Faithful. The finale included past and present members of Rundgren's Utopia: Roger Powell, Kasim Sulton, John Wilcox, John Siegler, Ralph Schuckett, and Moogy Klingman. Also joining in were the Hello People: Norman Smart, Greg Geddes, Bobby Sedita, and Larry Tasse. Special guest stars were Rick Derringer, Spencer Davis, Daryl Hall, John Oates, and Stevie Nicks.

Todd Rundgren - A Cappella (1985/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Recorded: Utopia Sound, Lake Hill, NY

A Cappella was the end of the road, as far as Bearsville was concerned. Rundgren, who was already at odds with the label and had taken his Utopia elsewhere, had to struggle to get the label to release the record, and it didn't hit the shelves officially until Warner stepped in and negotiated him out of the contract. Perhaps Bearsville didn't want to release A Cappella because they perceived it to be too weird, too bizarre to cross over into the mainstream, which is true. However, that thread of logic ignores the fact that ever since 1973, Rundgren had positioned himself as a cult artist. He may have proven himself to be an enormously successful cult artist, one capable of landing the odd hit single every now and then, but he remained a cult artist precisely because he was willing to take risks like A Cappella, an album he created entirely with his voice. To some listeners, such a tactic seemed like a gimmick, which is a fair criticism, since the compositions themselves don't necessarily explore new ground (he even throws in the requisite novelties and covers). Then again, the production and the recording are precisely the point of A Cappella, and that's why it's such an involving listen. Many times, it's hard to believe that all of the sounds on the record originated from the same larynx, since each layer of the production is filled with astonishing details. Even more impressively, by forcing himself to use just his voice (albeit electronically processed), Rundgren has devised fresh, unexpected arrangements that enliven a set of solid but unrevelatory songs. That inventive spirit is enough to turn A Cappella into something unique and special. --AllMusic Review by Stephen Thomas Erlewine

On 2nd December 2016, The Rolling Stones will release ‘Blue & Lonesome’, their first studio album in over a decade. ‘Blue & Lonesome’ takes the band back to their roots and the passion for blues music which has always been at the heart and soul of The Rolling Stones.
The album was produced by Don Was and The Glimmer Twins and was recorded over the course of just three days in December last year at British Grove Studios in West London, just a stone’s throw from Richmond and Eel Pie Island where the Stones started out as a young blues band playing pubs and clubs. Their approach to the album was that it should be spontaneous and played live in the studio without overdubs. The band – Mick Jagger (vocals & harp), Keith Richards (guitar), Charlie Watts (drums), and Ronnie Wood (guitar) were joined by their long time touring sidemen Darryl Jones (bass), Chuck Leavell (keyboards) and Matt Clifford (keyboards) and, for two of the twelve tracks, by old friend Eric Clapton, who happened to be in the next studio making his own album.
‘Blue & Lonesome’ sees the Rolling Stones tipping their hats to their early days as a blues band when they played the music of Jimmy Reed, Willie Dixon, Eddie Taylor, Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf – artists whose songs are featured on this album.
“This album is manifest testament to the purity of their love for making music, and the blues is, for the Stones, the fountainhead of everything they do.” Don Was, Co-Producer of ‘Blue & Lonesome’

"We wanted to try something different for our new song, 'Okay,'' says Steven Sharp Nelson. "We sidestepped our standard classically-influenced instrumental niche and did something more pop-driven featuring Al's superb vocal talent! We felt as though this was the best way to spread the positive message behind this song. We hope our fans love it."
For the "Okay" music video, The Piano Guys wanted to pay tribute to their loyal fans who have joined them on this exciting journey. The video opens with TPG recording the new song in the studio, where they create all of their inspirational music. The King's Men, Cambridge - Twelve Days of Christmas (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Сomposer: Various
Artist: The King's Men, Cambridge
Title: Twelve Days of Christmas
Genre: Classical, Choral
Label: © Choir of King's College, Cambridge
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 0:46:29
Recorded: July 2015, St George's Church, Chesterton, Cambridge, United Kingdom

The King’s Men is the close-harmony vocal group formed by the current choral scholars of King’s College, Cambridge.
Following on from the success of their 2014 release, 'After Hours', which topped the iTunes Classical Charts in June 2014, for their latest album on the college’s own label, the King’s Men showcase the lighter side of their seasonal repertoire, performing a mixture of Christmas tunes you won’t be hearing in 'Nine Lessons and Carols' any time soon.
Highlights include traditional favourites such as “Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer” alongside Pat Dunachie (now first alto in the King’s Singers) channelling Mariah Carey on “All I want for Christmas is You” and Keith Robert’s jocular arrangement of “12 Days of Christmas”.
Unlike many close-harmony groups, the King’s Men record together, balancing their voices acoustically instead of tracking each voice individually. What this approach sacrifices in precision, it more than makes up for in musical cohesion. Whether you’re dreaming of a white Christmas, drowning in Christmas cards, waiting to catch a glimpse of Rudolph’s red nose or simply wondering when all of those lords will stop a-leaping all over your lawn, this is an essential addition to your Christmas playlist.
The King’s Men ensemble have appeared on prime-time television, including BBC’s The One Show and regularly promote their releases in-store and online. Trailers for their previous release, 'After Hours', have proved incredibly popular, receiving over 40,000 views on their YouTube channel, and 'Twelve Days of Christmas' will receive similarly strong support.

Recorded in DSD 256fs, March 4th and 5th 2015 at The Dutch Music Center for Broadcast (MCO) Studio 2 in Hilversum

‘Recording in DSD’ is not a term musicians are generally familiar with. As a matter of fact, none of the musicians we asked to participate had the slightest idea what it was at first! Surprisingly, without exception, all immediately said yes and were very keen to learn about it. Especially on the recording days, March 4th and 5th 2015, they soon learned what it’s like to record acoustically in DSD: “Hey you, cellist, a little closer to the mics please” and “Could the saxophone player take two steps back and one to the right?”. With the microphones spread around above their heads and the prospect of no post recording mixing at all, the sound balancing had to be made right there and then at the recording session.
Once the musicians and engineers were happy with the balance, the recording began. Not only audio, but also visual! Jonas Sacks filmed each take of each ensemble, dancing fluidly around the musicians. This way, when the best take was chosen, we would always have a ‘1 take’ video to go with the ‘1 take’ DSD audio!
Seeing the expression on the faces of the musicians when they listened to themselves in DSD for the first time in the studio proved that Native DSD had organized something quite special. Most of them immediately shouted out in excitement: “We are playing right here in this room for ourselves to listen to!” A few others closed their eyes, made no sound and sat totally still apart from the occasional jaw drop.
Well, that brings us to the point of why we did this. We are spreading the message of what the incredible DSD recording technique can deliver. At the same time, we are enriching the libraries of music fans with the music of some of the most promising Dutch musicians who would otherwise not have been recorded in DSD.
We intent to flabbergast the musicians as well as our Native DSD customers by facilitating a one-off chance to record - and listen to them - in DSD. And who knows, perhaps the next step will be to record a complete album with the most popular ensemble? Or we can go to other places and do the same? One thing is for sure: Native DSD will keep exploring the ‘beyond’ part of our “DSD and Beyond” mission!
We hope you will enjoy the repertoire, interpretations & audio quality of "8 Ensembles in 1 Bit" as an attempt of a holy musical trinity provided by the musicians, recording technique and your playback equipment. --The Native DSD Team

The Jackson 5 - Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5 (1969/2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Artist: Jackson 5
Title: Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5
Genre: R&B, Soul, AM Pop
Label: © Motown Records, a Division of UMG Recordings, Inc.
Release Date: 1969/2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 192kHz/24bit

Duration: 00:37:24
Recorded: May – August 1969

Less than two weeks before the 1960s were left to be deciphered in the history books, Motown unleashed Diana Ross Presents the Jackson 5 (1969) and in doing so fittingly marked the beginning of a new era in crossover pop and soul. For all intents and purposes, this dozen-song disc introduced the world to the sibling talents of Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, Marlon, and most significantly of all, a prepubescent powerhouse named Michael Jackson. The brothers' inextricably tight vocal harmonies were fueled by the ebullience of youth and inexperience while the flames of their collective success were stoked with the funkified vibe of urban America. Immediately evident is the influence that Sly & the Family Stone (whose "Stand!" is an unmitigated zenith in the Jackson 5's care), James Brown, and even Funkadelic had on the J5. In fact, the quintet would actually cover George Clinton's "I Bet You" on their sophomore effort, ABC (1970). The burgeoning sounds coming out of Philly were having a similarly sizable impact, as evidenced by the addition of the Thom Bell/William Hart track "Can You Remember," which is one of the album's highlights. Another discernibly affective force was found closer to home, as they also drew on the considerable Motown back catalog with "My Cherie Amour," "Standing in the Shadows of Love," and a powerful reading of "(I Know) I'm Losing You." Under the moniker of "the Corporation," Motown staffers and artists including Bobby Taylor, instrumentalists Deke Richards (guitar), Freddie Perren (keyboard) , and Fonce Mizell (keyboards), and the label's co-founder, Berry Gordy, came up with a handful of dominant originals. Prominent among them are the midtempo "Nobody" and their double-sided chart-topping single "I Want You Back" b/w the Smokey Robinson-penned "Who's Lovin' You." --AllMusic Review by Lindsay Planer
