The Karajan Official Remastered Edition comprises 13 box sets containing official remasterings of the finest recordings the Austrian conductor made for EMI between 1946 and 1984, and which are now a jewel of the Warner Classics catalogue.
For many, Herbert von Karajan (1908-1989) – hailed early in his career as ‘Das Wunder Karajan’ (The Karajan Miracle) and known in the early 1960s as ‘the music director of Europe’ – remains the ultimate embodiment of the maestro. The release of the Karajan Official Remastered Edition over the first half of 2014 marks the 25th anniversary of the conductor’s death in July 1989 at the age of 81.
He was closely associated with EMI for the majority of his recording career (specifically from 1946 to 1960 and then again from 1969 to 1984). EMI’s legendary producer Walter Legge sought him out in Vienna just after World War II and the long relationship that ensued embraced recordings with the Vienna Philharmonic, the Philharmonia (the orchestra founded by Legge), the Berlin Philharmonic (of which Karajan became ‘conductor for life’ in 1955), the forces of La Scala, Milan, and the Orchestre de Paris.
The Karajan Official Remastered Edition will feature primarily symphonic and choral music. The entire edition will comprise recordings remastered from the original sources in 24-bit/96kHz at Abbey Road Studios, the world’s most renowned recording studio.

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band launch The River Tour 2016, a nine-week US trek, on Jan. 16 in Pittsburgh. The announcement of the tour coincides with today’s release of “The Ties That Bind: The River Collection,” a comprehensive look at the era of the 1980 “The River” album that “Rolling Stone” calls “Springsteen’s best archival release yet.” The box set is now available at Amazon (4CD/3DVDs or 4CD/2Blu-ray) and iTunes.
Each night of the tour will be mixed for release on Live.BruceSpringsteen.net as high-quality downloads and CDs. Recordings will be available within days of each performance.

Billy Talent - Afraid of Heights (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Billy Talent
Title: Afraid of Heights
Genre: Rock, Punk Revival, Punk Pop, Alternative/Indie Rock
Label: © Warner Music Canada Co.
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 00:49:00
Recorded: January –April 2016 at Revolution Recording, Toronto, ON and Dudebox Studios, Toronto, ON

Thirteen years after their breakthrough debut, Billy Talent are hungrier than ever on their fifth album, Afraid of Heights. Produced by guitarist Ian D'Sa and written by D'Sa and frontman Ben Kowalewicz, Afraid of Heights captures the best parts of the Canadian quartet's legacy, executing a perfect balance between the catchy anthems of Billy Talent I and II and the gravity of Dead Silence. Heights also marks the first album without drummer Aaron Solowoniuk, who was forced to the sidelines after a flare-up of his multiple sclerosis. With Solowoniuk's blessing, Jordan Hastings of Alexisonfire filled in, both in the studio and on the road. The symbolic hole created by the absence of their founding member and the topically charged content combine to create an incredibly urgent experience. The loose concept of fear and the different reactions to it loom ominously over Heights, with the band tackling a number of global issues: "Big Red Gun" takes aim at America's trigger-happy love of firearms and the subsequent toll those freedoms have taken on society, while the wonderfully titled "Ghost Ship of Cannibal Rats" foresees an impending catastrophe wrought by the reckless destruction of the environment. Meanwhile, the open-road epic "Rabbit Down the Hole" is a cautionary tale that entwines drug addiction and religious zealotry, recalling the dusty weariness of Seger's "Turn the Page" or Metallica's "The Unforgiven." Their most obviously political salvo is "This Is Our War," a unifying call-to-arms against the hatred spread by demagogues, written in response to the United States political landscape in 2016. All the while, they surge forward without pause, even getting a bit funky on the bouncy "February Winds" and the Muse-meets-Depeche Mode "Horses & Chariots." Even when they're rallying for (relatively) less pressing matters -- like the future of the soul of rock & roll on "Louder Than the DJ," the pressures of modern society on "Time-Bomb Ticking Away," or the dangers of toxic relationships on "The Crutch" -- Billy Talent make it sound like a matter of life and death. This is not, however, a completely grim and fearful journey. The heart and centerpiece of the album is the two-part "Afraid of Heights." The single version is a melodic pop/rock bomb, the central thesis of the entire record: conquering fear and taking a step into the unknown. Hatred, destruction, addiction, heartbreak: these are just hurdles to overcome through unity. On the patient reprise -- punctuated with an uplifting guitar solo -- the lyrics of the original change, replacing uncertainty and hesitation with hope and security. It's a beautiful end to an emotional album, one that surges with relevance. Afraid of Heights is their most overtly political statement yet, a highlight in the Billy Talent catalog and perhaps their best to date. --AllMusic Review by Neil Z. Yeung

Benedicte Maurseth, Asne Valland Nordli - Over Tones (2014) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Release Date: 2014
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit

Recorded: May 2011 at Strype Studio, Oslo

Over Tones is the highly attractive ECM debut of two exceptional folk musicians from the West of Norway – Benedicte Maurseth who plays the Hardanger fiddle and sings and vocalist Åsne Valland Nordli. Both musicians are well established in their homeland. Maurseth studied with Hardanger fiddle master Knut Hamre, and came to wider attention in 2007 as Norway’s Young Folk Musician of the Year. Nordli has collaborated with musicians ranging from the Bergen Philharmonic to jazz improvisers. Individually and together, Maurseth and Nordli have found personal ways to extend the essence of a great tradition – through historically-informed interpretation of old music and also through their own pieces. The purity of the delivery, of old music and new music alike, makes this a timeless performance.

This album embodies Volume 2 of the great event which was recorded in December 1976 over two nights at the intimate Pawnshop jazz club in Stockholm and considered one of the most famous audiophile recording in music. Both the musicianship and the engineering came together in a magical symbiosis captured on this enduring classic. Recording engineer Gert Palmcrantz used one pair of microphones spaced eight inches apart for the main pick-up, with a couple of microphones placed to register the “live” atmosphere and a few discrete support mikes, all recorded on a pair of two-track Nagra tape recorders in the restaurant kitchen!

Airelle Besson - Radio One (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/44,1kHz

Artist: Airelle Besson
Title: Radio One
Genre: Jazz
Label: © naïve jazz
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 44,1kHz/24bit
Source: Qobuz
Duration: 00:52:47
Recorded: Studios La Buissonne

Ages and Ages - Something To Ruin (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Ages and Ages
Title: Something To Ruin
Genre: Pop Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, Indie Pop, Alternative Country-Rock, Neo-Psychedelia
Label: © Partisan Records
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 00:40:29

If Ages and Ages’ debut album Alright You Restless declared independence from the cynicism and self-consciousness plaguing a generation; and the follow-up Divisionary was an exercise in confronting change, conflict, and loss; Something to Ruin confronts the debris of our collective failures and asks whether we might be better off letting go and starting over. Recorded at Isaac Brock’s studio (Ice Cream Party), this album still has plenty of the infectious and joyful melodies the band is known for, but this time the stakes are higher. It raises questions about facing our society’s collective wreckage both environmentally and culturally.
