Everything's Beautiful, the recordings of Miles Davis reimagined by Grammy award winning musician Robert Glasper with guest artists Erykah Badu, KING, John Scofield, Phonte, Bilal, Ledisi, Stevie Wonder, Laura Mvula, Hiatus Kaiyote & others. A visionary exploration of the music of Miles Davis, Everything's Beautiful incorporates Davis’ original recordings into new collaborative soundscapes. It blends a diverse group of master takes and outtakes from across the incomparable Miles Davis Columbia catalog with an impressive lineup of contemporary artists and musicians to create original interpretations.
“I didn’t want to do just a remix record,” Glasper noted when discussing the 11-song set. “My idea was to show how Miles inspired people to make new art.” Realizing that “Miles didn’t have one audience,” Glasper recruited a legion of diverse guest artists to add to the magic of the project including familiar collaborators like R&B musicians Erykah Badu, Ledisi, Bilal and KING.
“I am living in the spirit of Miles when I am doing what I’m doing because I am documenting my time period. I’m documenting what’s around me. I’m documenting who I am now, where music is now,” notes Glasper. “That’s what this project is about. I wanted to do something where we can take some of Miles’ ideas, shake them up, and try to show the influence of Miles and make new things. And that’s the beauty of this whole album. The whole project is based on Miles, but it is based on Miles’ vision, it’s based on Miles’ trumpet, it’s based on Miles’ voice, it’s based on Miles’ composition, it’s based on Miles’ influence, it’s based on Miles’ swag.”
Everything's Beautiful is unlike any other in Davis’ discography. From the familiar (riffs and passages within the catalog) to the obscure (samples of Miles’ in-studio instructions spoken after false starts), Glasper has built something unique but still unquestionably Miles.

Michael Kiwanuka - Love & Hate (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Michael Kiwanuka
Title: Love & Hate
Genre: R&B, Soul, Singer/Songwriter
Label: © Polydor
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: Qobuz
Duration: 00:54:49
Recorded: The Sound Factory, Metropolis Studios, Miloco Studios, Chale Abbey, Seahorse Sound Studios, RAK Studios, Panoramic Studios

Michael Kiwanuka is an undeniable talent. A wise, soulful songwriter with an incredible voice. He's also a great guitarist. His 2012 debut, Home Again, was such an authentic and faithful offering of soul revival that critics made frequent comparisons to the likes of Bill Withers and Otis Redding. Good company, to be sure, but no artist simply wants to stand on the shoulders of giants. Despite the awards and glowing reviews, many critics wondered if this might not be a very stylish flash in the pan. Would there be a worthy second act?
Love & Hate, Kiwanuka's sophomore studio effort is no slump. Love & Hate is a fascinatingly assured and resonant body of work, which follows Michael’s acclaimed 2012 debut album, Home Again. Having introduced himself (and that voice) to the world in 2011 with the raw soul of “Tell Me A Tale,” Love & Hate is permeated with a timelessness that defies any artist of any specific era. If the ‘death of the album’ is still an ongoing conversation, Michael Kiwanuka’s new record is a startling, emphatic response to its enduring importance.
Where Home Again provoked comparisons to the likes of Bill Withers and Otis Redding, Michael’s new album struts to a much more psychedelic, freeform beat. Its opening number, the peerless ten-minute opus “Cold Little Heart” evokes the haze of Pink Floyd in its unhurried slow-burn, whilst “Falling” is a soaring gospel number for the 21st century. There are standout tunes throughout, but really Love & Hate is an album that genuinely deserves to be listened to as one work of art “I’ve always wanted to make an album that felt and sounded like this one,” says Michael, “Working with guys as good as Danger Mouse and Inflo really helped me find what I was looking for. I hope this is just the start of more music to come.”
Honest, unabashed, and ambitious, this is Kiwanuka emerging from the emotional cocoon of his first album, and ready to secure his position as one of music’s exciting talents.

Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit

Duration: 01:10:49
Recorded live October 26, 2012 at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan Recital Hall

A document of a 2012 Japanese solo recital – not only the last in his homeland but the last anywhere – by idiosyncratic improviser Masabumi Kikuchi (1939-2015). One of the uncategorisable greats, Kikuchi occupied his own musical universe and in his final years was quietly and systematically severing his ties to jazz, drifting instead towards what he called ‘floating sound and harmonies’, introspective and poetic improvisations. Song forms still sometimes materialized. Kikuchi revisits “Little Abi”, a ballad for his daughter, which the pianist once recorded with Elvin Jones. And there is a surprising and very touching version of the wistfully yearning theme from the 1959 Brazilian film Black Orpheus.

Mark Lanegan - Whiskey for the Holy Ghost (1994/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Mark Lanegan
Title: Whiskey for the Holy Ghost
Genre: Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, Blues Rock, Folk Rock, Singer/Songwriter

Release Date: 1994/2015

Duration: 49:36
Recorded: Ironwood, Riciprocal, & Steve Lawson Studios, Seattle, WA, & Messina Music, NYC, during 1993

Whiskey for the Holy Ghost is the second solo album by former Screaming Trees vocalist Mark Lanegan. The album builds upon the roots music foundation that Lanegan had established with his debut The Winding Sheet. Released during the grunge explosion of the early 1990s, Whiskey for The Holy Ghost showcases Lanegan's growing maturity as a songwriter and vocalist.
The recording was reportedly a frustrating affair for Lanegan; at one point the singer had to be physically prevented from throwing the master tapes into a river by producer Jack Endino. Despite the album's slow gestation and Lanegan's notorious substance abuse problems, the songs on Whiskey for The Holy Ghost sound remarkably cohesive. Lyrically, Lanegan continues to delve into the darker side of the human experience on songs like "Borracho" and the Biblical "Pendulum" ("Jesus Christ been here and gone, what a painful price to pay").
"House A Home" was released as a single with an accompanying video. "The River Rise" was used in the 1996 grunge documentary Hype!, where it accompanied a montage filmed at the vigil following Kurt Cobain's death. Dan Peters of Mudhoney plays drums on "Borracho" and "House A Home."
