Johann Sebastian Bach - Inventions & Symphonies BWV772-801 - Thomas Ragossnig (2016) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Сomposer: Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750)
Artist: Thomas Ragossnig
Title: Bach, J.S. - Inventions & Symphonies BWV772-801
Genre: Classical
Label: © Solo Musica GmbH
Release Date: 2016
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: Qobuz
Duration: 00:51:59
Recorded: February 9-11, 2015 at the church in Marthalen

Why a recording of Bach's Inventions and Sinfonias in altered order? The 1723 fair copy of both the Inventions and the Sinfonias has the keys ordered according to the ascending scale (C major / C minor; D major / D minor etc.). There is however no compelling reason to perform them that way; there are musically more meaningful and attractive sequences. Thomas Ragossnig presents one of them on this CD for the first time. He mixes the Inventions and Sinfonias in the same key and performs them in groups of two or four. The result is a musically exciting sequence of Inventions and Sinfonias that gives the listener the opportunity to linger longer in each key, as in a Baroque suite. Thomas Ragossnig zestfully interprets the various musical affections in these miniatures, so that these complex works function as a musically meaningful and stimulating cycle and not only as "contrapuntal references".

A recording to delight all admirers of Bach and the baroque oboe and a wonderful account of Heinz Holliger’s interpretive genius as a player: for many, he is the world’s greatest oboist. Factor in the long-established relationship between the Camerata Bern and Holliger which permits a real group understanding, Erich Hobarth’s exemplary violin, and superb ECM sound and we have here a special event. Holliger has recorded prolifically for the New Series, but this is his first disc for the label since the 1997 “Zelenka” album to address core classical repertoire, and these very popular pieces will find a broad public response.

A popular singer of the '60s, Anita Bryant has been known as a beauty queen, a singer, a Florida citrus spokeswoman, and later an advocate against homosexuality. Her hits, which made both the British and American charts, include "'Till There Was You," "Paper Roses" and "In My Little Corner of the World."
Born in Oklahoma, Bryant's musical career began at a very early age. She first performed on stage at the age of six, and three years later she won her first talent show. It was after this victory that she won a spot on Arthur Godfrey's talent show on television. From there her musical career blossomed, and the singer -- known as Oklahoma's "Red Feather Girl" -- made her recording debut in 1956 with the single "Sinful to Flirt."
In 1958, she was crowned Miss Oklahoma and moved on to the Miss America pageant, where she came in third thanks to her musical talents. "'Till There Was You" from The Music Man was Anita Bryant's first chart-topping hit in 1959. She released three albums on the Carlton label (Anita Bryant, In Your Home Tonight and In My Little Corner of the World), and hit number one again in 1960 with Bert Kaempfert's "Wonderland of Night." (Marie Osmond later recorded another of Bryant's songs, "In My Little Corner of the World," for her own hit.)
In 1962, Anita Bryant switched to Columbia and recorded a series of inspirational titles as well as standard pop albums. During the '70s, she recorded several albums for the religious label Wood, though the transition never lacked the boisterous singing style that had already been associated with her.
In the '80s and '90s, Anita Bryant's interests again changed. Although she still enjoyed singing and performing, she became an advocate against homosexuality and began working as a motivational speaker. She continued to sing in numerous performances throughout the season at The Anita Bryant Theater in Branson, MO, and later at her own theater in Pigeon Fork, TN. --Artist Biography by Kim Summers

Billy Butler (born William E. Butler; June 7, 1945 – March 31, 2015) was an American soul singer and songwriter active in the 1960s and early 1970s. He was born in Chicago.
Butler was Jerry Butler's younger brother. He formed the vocal group the Enchanters while at high school. He first recorded for Okeh Records in 1963, and was produced initially by Curtis Mayfield and later by Carl Davis. On early recordings he was backed by the Chanters, a renamed version of the Enchanters; other members were Errol Batts and Jesse Tillman. His first and biggest hit was 1965's "I Can't Work No Longer", which reached #6 on the U.S. Billboard Black Singles chart and #60 on the Billboard Hot 100. The group disbanded in 1966, and after a minor solo hit with "The Right Track" he left Okeh. "The Right Track" is placed at number 11 in the Northern Soul Top 500.

Earl Hines - Fatha & His Flock on Tour (1970/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/88,2kHz

Recorded on the occasion of the Berlin Jazz Festival 1970

Earl Hines’ improvisational style helped shape jazz. His Hot Five sides with Louis Armstrong are historic masterpieces, and the Armstrong-Hines duo “Weather Bird” is one of jazz’s high-watermarks. He went on to lead the first be-bop big band with Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Parker as band members. Hines kept up with the times throughout his career, absorbing and assimilating every new style. Here Hines flows from Dixie to stride and swing, from rocking rhythm and blues to free-wheeling contemporary. Singer Marva Josie shines as the quintet plays the rhythm & blues standard I Just Wanna Make Love to You, as well as I Feel so Smoochy, Hines’ Night In Trinidad and the Cole Porter classic Easy To Love. The Hines originals Second Balcony Jump and Cannery Walk are tasty trio pieces. Ellington classics Passion Flower and Things Ain’t What They Used To Be, as well as All Of Me and Hines’ own Melodica Blues are instrumental quartet pieces featuring Haywood Henry’s polished clarinet and baritone play. All Of Me, My Heart Stood Still and Somebody Loves Me are solo exhibitions of Hines’ depth and breadth as he plays through jazz history. A necessary addition to any ‘Fatha’ Hines collection, and for those not familiar with the man and his music, a good introduction to one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century
