Delving into golden age of pop/folk music from the late 1960’s and early 1970’s Susan has reinterpreted classics such as the Beatles’ Something, the Turtles’ Happy Together, Creedence Clearwater Revivals’ Have You Ever Seen The Rain and The Mama’s & the Papa’s California Dreaming in her own laid-back intimate acoustic pop, folk and bossa nova style. Susan stepped in to the world of Beyoncé with an intimate acoustic version of the hit, Halo. The album was masterly mixed by Yvan Bing (co-producer of the latest album from Phil Collins). This incredible mix of classics is branded with Susan’s trademark clever arrangement and impeccable vocal.

Spoon - Gimme Fiction (2005/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Spoon
Title: Gimme Fiction {Deluxe Reissue}
Genre: Rock, Alternative/Indie Rock, Art Rock
Label: © Merge Records
Release Date: 2005/2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit

Recorded: July–September 2004

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Spoon classic, Merge will release a deluxe limited-edition version of Gimme Fiction on double-LP (180g) and double-CD. The reissue contains the album remastered by Howie Weinberg from the original tapes, a second disc with 12 previously unreleased demos from the era, nine additional bonus tracks via digital download, and a full-color book containing photos and an extensive oral history of the making of the album. The deluxe LP package will also include a 24” x 36” poster.
Gimme Fiction dragged the sonic pointillism of Kill the Moonlight further into dub-influenced weirdness as the increasingly confident Spoon went crazy in the studio, experimenting with everything from warped hip-hop samples to horse whinnies. How all this directionless Dylan worship and psychedelic goofing resulted in an album as sharply realized as Gimme Fiction is a testament solely to Spoon’s self-assurance and tastefulness (and some hard work, and a bit of luck, etc.). Whatever digging or strange alchemy had to go into it, they only produced more gold.
Gimme Fiction deserves special recognition because it’s the album where Spoon—backed into a corner—took some crazy leaps, all of them forward. It’s a “departure point” for a band that, lucky for us, has never made a real departure. And when it came time for a reissue, we knew it deserved a lasting place on vinyl, right alongside every other indispensable record in Spoon’s discography.

Recorded: Turku Concert Hall, Turku, Finland, from 8th to 12th September, 2014

The eloquent power of Jean Sibelius’s symphonies and other core orchestral works has overshadowed his prolific output in other genres, including significant scores for the theatre. The commission to compose music for the tragic pantomime Scaramouche caused Sibelius much stress and frustration, but on its première the composer was able to note “great success in Copenhagen” in his diary. With the exception of his one opera, Scaramouche is Sibelius’s only continuous dramatic score, the story of the sinister hunchbacked dwarf’s bewitching musicianship and evil intent taking us from innocent charm to a nightmarish conclusion.

Genre: Classical
Label: © Ondine Oy, Helsinki

Recordings: Helsinki Music Centre, Finland, 17, 20 & 22 October 2014 (Lemminkäinen), 17 November 2014 (Pohjola’s Daughter)

Lemminkäinen Legends is a large and fascinating orchestral work in four movements based on the Finnish Kalevala epic. Originally completed in 1895 the work has a unique position in Sibelius' oeuvre: Sibelius never came closer to the very core of Symbolism than in the misty moods, swan motifs and macabre features of Lemminkäinen. It also includes one of Sibelius' most well-known orchestral pieces, The Swan of Tuonela. Written before the 1st Symphony, it is also noteworthy that Lemminkäinen lacks nothing of a symphony.
Sibelius was not totally satisfied with the work, but withdrew the work soon after its premiere until it was heard again in 1935. However, in his late years Sibelius did not even totally reject the idea of calling Lemminkäinen as ‘a symphony'.
Pohjola's Daughter (Pohjolan tytär), completed in 1906, is among Sibelius' final orchestral pieces directly linked to the Kalevala epic in his transition from National Romanticism towards a more Classical idiom. It includes some of the boldest and most dramatic scoring that Sibelius ever wrote, illustrating Väinämöinen's futile attempts to win the maiden of Pohjola for himself.
Year 2015 marks the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Jean Sibelius (1865-1957), also known as "Finland's national composer".
