Bill Evans once referred to Japanese 'Sumiye' ~ ink-wash paintings ~ in his liner notes for the original recording of Kind of Blue by Miles Davis sextet in 1958: "There is a Japanese visual art in which the artist is forced to be spontaneous. He must paint on a thin stretched parchment with a special brush and black water paint in such a way that an unnatural or interrupted stroke will destroy the line or break through the parchment. Erasures or changes are impossible...."

Anouar Brahem - The Astounding Eyes of Rita (2009) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Delightful new project, assembled by Tunisian oud master Brahem with producer Manfred Eicher. Combination of bass clarinet with oud suggests a link to Anouar’s “Thimar” trio, but this East/West line-up often feels closer to the more traditionally-inclined sounds of “Barzakh” or “Conte de l’Incroyable Amour”. Klaus Gesing, from Norma Winstone’s Trio, and Björn Meyer, from Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin, are both players with an affinity for musical sources beyond jazz, and they interact persuasively inside Brahem’s music. A dance of dark, warm sounds, urged onward by the darbouka and frame drum of Lebanese percussionist Khaled Yassine. The album is dedicated to the memory of Palestinian poet Mahmoud Darwish.

Alanis Morrisette - Feast on Scraps (2002/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Alanis Morissette

Release Date: 2002/2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit

Recorded: 2002

Fresh from her "Toward Our Union Mended" 2002 world tour, Alanis Morissette hit the studio to pull together FEAST ON SCRAPS, a double CD/DVD featuring eight unreleased audio tracks from her last studio outing UNDER RUG SWEPT and a full concert from Rotterdam on the DVD. A master of looking inward and emerging with musical manna, Morissette does not disappoint as she dips into feelings of undeserved success (the subtly tumultuous "Fear Of Bliss"), guilt over this dissatisfaction (a gently lilting "Offer"), and a heavy dose of fame-fueled ennui (the Middle Eastern-flavored "Purgatorying"). Other highlights include the harder-edged "Sister Blister," touching break-up ballad "Simple Together," and a gorgeous solo acoustic reading of her hit "Hands Clean." The accompanying DVD further enhances this already stellar package with the aforementioned live show packed with Morissette favorites "Ironic," "You Oughta Know," and "Hand In My Pocket" along with behind-the-scenes footage from the UNDER RUG SWEPT sessions, rare home videos, and live footage from other cities on the 2002 tour. FEAST ON SCRAPS is far from skimpy, and on the contrary, turns out to be a fine audio/visual meal. --AllMusic Review

Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie is the fourth album by singer-songwriter Alanis Morissette, originally released in 1998. After the massive success of Jagged Little Pill (1995), Morissette was considered one of the biggest music stars in the world, and many fans anxiously awaited a follow-up album. A dark and wandering album, the mystery of Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie began on its cover, with an image of Alanis's mouth while laughing and a text printed over that image that refers to The Eight Precepts of Buddhism.
The album debuted at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200 with the highest first-week sales for a female artist at the time, selling almost half a million copies in its first seven days. The first single from Supposed Former Infatuation Junkie, 'Thank U', charted high because of the anticipation for the album. Other singles off the album include 'Joining You' which became the album's second single in Europe. 'Unsent' also charted and 'So Pure' made it to the top 40 in the UK.

Alanis Morissette - So-Called Chaos (2004/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Alanis Morissette crashed into pop music's collective consciousness in the mid-1990s as a woman scorned, carrying loads of resentment along with her alt-pop leanings. Morissette's fourth studio album, „So-Called Chaos“, reveals that she has come a long way from the days of 'You Oughta Know,' thanks, in part, to the healing powers of love. In this case, actor Ryan Reynolds is the object of her affection, and Morissette embarks on an in-depth exploration of the various aspects of romance.
Backed by a band that includes former Jane's Addiction bassist Eric Avery, the Canadian singer-songwriter casts out a wide range of emotions. She goes from the playful wordplay of 'Knees of My Bees,' with its loops and sitar-like flourishes, to the more serious concept of forgiveness at the heart of the melancholy 'This Grudge.' Not surprisingly, introspection drives Morissette's creative engine. With it comes material leaving her in a vulnerable, confessional mode, whether she's acknowledging jealousy while telling her paramour otherwise on 'Doth I Protest Too Much' or exploring a fear of weakness on 'Spineless.' These songs reveal a mature tone missing from her early outings, and mark another fine and eclectic album by the always-intriguing artist.

A Festival of Fucik - Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Neeme Jarvi (2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Сomposer: Julius Ernst Wilhelm Fučík (1872 – 1916)
Artist: Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Neeme Järvi
Title: A Festival of Fučík
Genre: Classical
Label: © Chandos Records
Release Date: 2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: theCLASSICALshop
Duration: 01:19:42
Recorded: Royal Concert Hall, Glasgow; 16 and 17 February 2015

Thirty years after having recorded Dvořák’s complete Symphonies on Chandos, the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and its laureate conductor Neeme Järvi tackle another romantic Czech composer: Julius Fučík, famous for his more than 400 polkas, marches, and waltzes, some of the best of which are featured here.
Fučík studied violin in his early years, switching later to the bassoon, with a subsidiary in percussion and timpani. Playing in Austrian regiments, he gained invaluable experience of writing for military band and became a very prolific composer of marches. The most famous of these is of course Entry of the Gladiators, completed in 1899 and performed throughout the world ever since.
Full of energetic, effervescent Bohemian crossrhythms, tuneful brass melodies (often now associated with a circus atmosphere), but also more lyrical expressions, this album is a festival in itself.
