In this third album from GRAMMY® nominated ensemble ZOFO, the critically acclaimed piano duo takes the listener on a metaphorical exploration of the galaxy with mesmerizing, outer space-themed duet works by four noted composers of the 20th and 21st centuries - Gustav Holst, George Crumb, David Lang and Urmas Sisask preformed on one piano - four hands.
Since joining forces as a professional duo in 2009, Eva-Maria Zimmermann and Keisuke Nakagoshi - ZOFO - have electrified audiences from Carnegie Hall to Osaka, Japan with their dazzling artistry and outside-the-box thematic programming for piano-four-hands. This prize winning Steinway Artist ensemble - one of only a handful of duos worldwide devoted exclusively to piano duets - is blazing a bold new path for piano-four-hands groups by focusing on 20th and 21st century repertoire and by commissioning new works from noted composers each year.
ZOFO’s debut album MIND MELD (DSL-92151), released by Sono Luminus in April, 2012, received a 2013 GRAMMY® Award nomination in the category of Best Chamber Music/Small Ensemble Performance. MOSH PIT (DSL-92167), ZOFO’s second release, put the duo’s considerable keyboard skills to the test in exciting, high energy, evocative dance-themed duets from an all American group of noted 20th century composers.
ZOFORBIT, ZOFO’s third album with Sono Luminus, takes the listener on an intragalactic voyage through the Milky Way, with musical visits to the planets of our solar system, to bright stars of the galaxy, and back again. Estonian composer Urmas Sisask sets the mood with the other-worldly sounds of his composition The Milky Way, featuring innovative inside and outside the piano techniques that evoke a sense of the cosmos. The journey continues with a tour of Gustav Holst’s The Planets, and visits to the stars Alpha Centauri and Beta Cygni as musically envisioned by George Crumb in his one-piano-four-hands masterpiece Celestial Mechanics (Makrokosmos IV). The space exploration concludes with David Lang’s Gravity, which metaphorically coaxes the listener back to earth in slow-moving patterns of descending notes.

Yaron Herman - Everyday (2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/48kHz

Artist: Yaron Herman
Title: Everyday
Genre: Jazz, Modern Jazz, Piano Jazz
Label: © Blue Note Records/Decca
Release Date: 2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 48kHz/24bit
Duration: 45:23
Recorded: Studio de Meudon by Julian Basseres

Vintage Trouble - 1 Hopeful Rd. (2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/88.2kHz

Over the past few years, Vintage Trouble have wowed audiences across the globe by opening for The Rolling Stones in London's Hyde Park, touring with legends like The Who and AC/DC, and playing sold-out headline shows worldwide. Now, on their first album for Blue Note Records, the Los Angeles-based foursome - singer Ty Taylor, guitarist Nalle Colt, bassist Rick Barrio Dill, and drummer Richard Danielson channel the vitality and passion of their live show into a fresh and urgent take on guitar-powered rhythm & blues. Produced by Blue Note president and three-time Grammy Award-winner Don Was, 1 Hopeful Rd. finds Vintage Trouble building off the groove-fueled sound that Yahoo! once painted as „James Brown singing lead for Led Zeppelin“ and blending blues, soul, and riff-heavy rock & roll with joyfully gritty abandon. As heard on lead single „Run Like the River,“ 1 Hopeful Rd. matches Vintage Trouble's emotional intensity with a raw yet sophisticated musicianship that's prompted the New York Times to name the band modern-day answer to Otis Redding and BBC Radio 6 to anoint them „the heirs of rhythm and blues.“

The Sisters Of Mercy - First and Last and Always (1985/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Release Date: 1985/2015

Recorded: 1984

With the band itself falling to bits shortly after the March 1985 debut of First and Last and Always, the album's place in the skewed history of the rise of goth rock would, on one hand, be permanently linked with that discord but, on the other, not impacted in the slightest, leaving the fractious set's success and structure to become a blueprint for an entire generation of up-and-comers. With static drumbeats and jangle-angled guitars backing Andrew Eldritch's atonic, graveyard vocals, the songs on First and Last and Always paid to play alongside the ghosts of myriad forgotten post-punkers as well as the band's own goth forebears. From the opening air-fire claustrophobia of "Black Planet" to the melancholy "No Time to Cry," Eldritch continually assured listeners that "everything's gonna be alright" -- but, really, coming out of that mouth, did anyone actually believe him? Even on the occasional wobbly patches imbedded in the now classic "Marian" and the title track, where the song threatens to dissolve into irrelevance despite Eldritch's chirky vocal, they pull up wonderfully on the bass-driven, bee-stung guitar gem "Possession" and the closing "Some Kind of Stranger," an untouchable epic that, clocking in at over seven minutes, is the best of its kind from any time -- period. "Some Kind of Stranger" not only became a love song for the doom and gloom crowd, but was also an anthemic, anemic declaration of intent laid bare in a haze of sonic smoke and mirrors. Copied to death, its brilliance has never been replicated. Indeed, the entire album remains unequaled in the genre, permanently granted top place on a pedestal from which it cannot be toppled. --AllMusic Review by Amy Hanson

With influences as diverse as Greek folk music, contemporary classical, modern jazz, world music and European avant-garde, Transcendence is an intoxicating, musically literate tour-de-force. These richly textured, beautifully balanced compositions are performed with great rigour, lyricism and passion, but above all they are strikingly honest and direct.

Sylvain Rifflet - Mechanics (2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/48kHz

Recorded and mixed in 2014 by Adrian’ Bourget at Artscène Studio, Bourgoin-Jallieu, France

French saxophonist and composer Sylvain Rifflet has his finger firmly set on the pulse of modern times. Working with his group Alphabet, he has masterminded an innovative and spell-binding brand of music in which the modernity of his jazz sound combines with the world of New York minimalism. Poets and writers of the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century often described the then-nascent ''industrial world'' and its machines as ''enemies of art.'' However some did not see progress as dehumanizing. Science fiction imagined a futuristic world, which inspired artists and writers such as Jules Verne and HG Wells. Rifflet's album Mechanics, with a cover illustration by Belgian comic book artist Francois Schuiten, journeys through forward looking and fantastical worlds.

Welcome to the future, weary time-traveller from the past. Surely it's been a long and arduous journey for you, so why don't you lay back and relax and let us take care of the entertainment. We know you come from the golden age where monsters of heavy rock were born and prospered, and we've just the right thing that you'll find comfortably familiar and a sound to which you are well accustomed. We present you with Siena Root's newest album Pioneers.
You say you haven't heard of this Siena Root before? Well, most naturally, as you are a respected visitor from the end of the 60's, or possibly the beginning of the 70's, and they started out in the late 90's. By now the band are far from being newcomers in the music scene for this is already their fifth studio release which pays tribute to the sound of old. Even though over four decades have passed since your time, even though a lot of technological advances have been made, and even though a lot of new music genres have seen their rise and fall, we still look back at and bow down to your golden age of heavy rock.
For you were pioneers. You crafted the sounds, and it was good. Some of us weren't even born when history was made. Yet, we respect the greats and pay tribute to them. We call it root rock these days, you know. Forgive us if we haven't heard all the great bands from your time but you must understand we've got our own age to keep step with. However, we think we can recognise signature Deep Purple sounds in Pioneers, and some occasional heavy Black Sabbath riffs, and airy The Doors atmosphere, and maybe some Uriah Heep rocking. We're sure you'll find others, being from that age and all.
At least we think Siena Root have captured the essence of the age, for this album rocks and it rocks good despite some worrying changes in the line-up. Notably they've seen the departure of master musician K. G. West, who prior to the latest album used to steer the band with Eastern influences. We're sure you'd also love that psychedelic aspect of the band, our dear time-traveller. We're also somewhat disappointed to have to make do without Sanya's lovely vocals. Oh, she used to sing so good, she did! However, as you can hear, Jonas Åhlén is no let down either and is a very capable rock vocalist indeed. His voice's got some proper weight in it.
What, friend? You say it's time for you to go? Yes, we're nearing the end of our entertainment here. Pioneers is suitably short by modern standards and it's Siena Root's shortest, too. We can agree with you that the album lives up to the sound and spirit of the golden age of heavy rock. However, skilled musicians they may be, we cannot help but think that with this album the band have lost some of their characteristic traits and sounds. Oh, they know how to rock; you can hear that all right. It's just that they used to be about so much more than just rocking.
Well, it's time we parted company, dear time-traveller. When you go back, tell them we remember and treasure your old times. Even if we're no pioneers any more, we still know how to craft a good heavy rock album like Pioneers.

This album is a great introduction to the deeply absorbing world of Schubert's songs. It features a very personal collection of Schubert songs chosen by Christian Gerhaher, who has performed these songs for many years and has a profound connection to them. The album includes a detailed booklet text with a separate paragraph detailing each song.
Schubert set the verse of over 100 poets to music, composing approximately 650 songs. He selected biblical texts and poetry from classical Greece, the Renaissance, the Enlightenment and the early Romantic era, the poets including Goethe, Schiller, Shakespeare, Petrarca and Heine as well as his Austrian contemporaries and friends.
