Rush - Moving Pictures (1981/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Artist: Rush
Title: Moving Pictures
Genre: Rock, Prog Rock, Hard Rock
Label: © Mercury Records
Release Date: 1981/2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 192kHz/24bit

Recorded: October - November 1980 at Le Studio, Morin Heights, Quebec

Moving Pictures is the intersection between Rush’s ’70s art-rock style and their sequencer-laced ’80s efforts. An incredible stylistic leap for the band, the songs here incorporate reggae, percolating synth and even a new wave-tinged early ’80s pop sensibility. ‘Tom Sawyer,’ the ultimate alienated-teen saga, is the album’s best known song. ‘Red Barchetta’ picks up where 2112 left off with futuristic, sci fi-oriented lyrics. The instrumental ‘YYZ’ is as far into straight-up progressive rock as the band had ever ventured. Things get socio-political on the ominous ‘Witch Hunt,’ and a Jamaican flavor enlivens ‘Vital Signs.’ The increased reliance on synthesizers and sequencers would later become irksome to old school Rush fans, but on ‘Moving Pictures’, electronics are tastefully applied to further the group’s musical vision, making for what just might be their finest batch of songs.

Puccini’s Manon Lescaut with Ana María Martínez, Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana, Coro de la Generalitat Valenciana and conductor Plácido Domingo is the dark story of love, betrayal, jealousy and death. Manon calls for dramatic, forceful performances and gets the full treatment here in this new studio recording.
The story of the doomed heroine Manon Lescaut has inspired more than one composer, but is perhaps most passionately portrayed in Puccini’s opera, written just ten years after Massenet’s Manon. A grim story of love, betrayal, jealousy and death, it calls for dramatic, forceful performance, and gets the full treatment here in this new studio recording starring Andrea Bocelli.
Now Bocelli brings the full weight of his emotionally charged personality to the tragic role of Puccini’s Des Grieux.
Manon Lescaut was Puccini’s third opera but was the first to bring him European fame. It was based on the eighteenth-century novel by the Abbé Prévost which had already been used as a source for operas by Auber in 1856 and, more famously, by Massenet (with Manon) in 1884. As far as possible Puccini’s libretto avoided scenes already used by Massenet and was the work of a number of hands, including Ruggero Leoncavallo, Giulio Ricordi (Puccini’s publisher) and Puccini himself. But the chief credit must undoubtedly go to Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, the future librettists of La Bohème, Tosca and Madama Butterfly. The opera was first produced at the Teatro Regio, Turin, in February 1893 and achieved an immediate success. After the London premiere in 1894 George Bernard Shaw, then a music critic, wrote the prophetic words: “Puccini looks to me more like the heir to Verdi than any of his rivals”.

Recorded: May-December 1989, Archer Studios, Winooski, Vermont

Lawn Boy is Phish's second official studio album, released on September 21, 1990, on the Absolute A Go Go Records and Rough Trade labels. Vinyl LPs of the original Absolute A Go Go release are still known to circulate. The album was re-released by Elektra Records on June 30, 1992.
The songs on Lawn Boy include many of the progressive rock and fusion elements featured on the band's first studio album, Junta, as well as incorporating elements of bluegrass, jazz and barbershop quartet.
The music for "Bathtub Gin" was written by Phish frontman Trey Anastasio with lyrics by the band's friend Suzannah Goodman. The lyrics are reprinted "by permission of Bret and Wendy" according to the liner notes, and the album version quotes George Gershwin's classical-jazz standard "Rhapsody in Blue".
The album was certified gold by the RIAA on July 7, 2004.
In February 2009, Lawn Boy became available as a download in FLAC and MP3 formats at LivePhish.com.
JEMP Records will released "Lawn Boy" on Record Store Day 2013 as a Limited Edition Deluxe 2-LP vinyl set. The LE Deluxe 2-LP vinyl set is limited to 7,500 individually numbered copies and was created from the original 1/4" stereo master reels with lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering. Each LP is pressed onto 180g audiophile grade vinyl. Deluxe packaging includes an 8-page photo booklet and an etched D-side. ~wikipedia

Phish - Junta (1989/2012) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Artist: Phish
Title: Junta
Genre: Jam, jazz fusion, neo-psychedelia, progressive rock, avant-garde, experimental rock
Label: © JEMP Records
Release Date: 1989/2012
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 192kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 1:24:27
Recorded: Euphoria Sound Studios in Revere, Massachusetts, 1988

Junta is the first official studio release from the American rock band Phish. The album was independently recorded at Euphoria Sound Studio, now known as Sound & Vision Media, in Revere, MA by engineer Gordon Hookailo. Some of the recording was documented on video tape by studio owner Howard Cook. The recording was released on tape in 1988, and did not appear in stores officially until May 8, 1989. The album was re-released by Elektra Records on October 26, 1992. The album is named after Ben "Junta" Hunter, the band's first official manager/agent, whose nickname is pronounced with a "hard" J and a "short" U. In addition to a few more traditionally structured songs, Junta contains symphonic-like epics and multi-part progressive rock suites. The album was certified gold by the RIAA on October 9, 1997, and was certified platinum on July 7, 2004.
On February 13, 2012, it was announced that Junta would be released on vinyl for the first time on April 21, 2012 as Limited Edition Deluxe 3-LP vinyl set, as part of Record Store Day. The LE Deluxe 3-LP vinyl set is limited to 5,000 individually numbered copies. The vinyl release was created from the original stereo master reels with lacquers cut by Chris Bellman at Bernie Grundman Mastering, and pressed onto 180g audiophile grade vinyl and includes a free MP3 download of the entire album (transferred from the new vinyl master). Chris Bellman also made two digital transfers from the original stereo master reels, one recorded at 24 bit / 96 kHz, and a second digital transfer recorded at 24 bit / 192 kHz. These digital files were sold at HDTracks. Interestingly, on this new release "Contact" is over a minute longer than in previous releases.
"Union Federal", "Sanity", and "Icculus" did not appear on the original cassette release, but rather only on the Elektra version, which had extra space on the CD format.[4] "Union Federal" was
taken from a jam session, while "Sanity" and "Icculus" were recorded live on July 25, 1988. There was a mix up in adding them to the Elektra version post-date, so the May 3, 1988 date inside the album notes is incorrect. The 2009 LivePhish.com digital download also contained these three extra tracks, while the 2012 re-releases did not contain the extra tracks, as these were not
part of the original album's stereo master reels.
