Emmylou Harris - Elite Hotel (1975/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Recorded: June 1975 in The Enactron Truck, California

On her second album „Elite Hotel“, Emmylou Harris follows the blueprint she established with „Pieces Of The Sky“. She even draws songs from many of the same sources, going to the well one more time for songs by Rodney Crowell ('Till I Gain Control Again') and the Beatles ('Here, There, and Everywhere'). With guitar legend James Burton, pianist Bill Payne, and singer Linda Ronstadt among the returning guests, the supporting cast also echoes that of „Pieces Of The Sky“. Whereas that album only hinted at Harris' potential commercial success, however, „Elite Hotel“ delivers on the promise. With three top-five singles ('Together Again,' 'One of These Days,' and 'Sweet Dreams'), „Elite Hotel“ established Harris as one of country's premier artists.
„Elite Hotel“ goes further than Harris' previous album in acknowledging her debt to her mentor, country-rock avatar Gram Parsons. Three Parsons songs ('Sin City,' 'Wheels,' and 'Ooh Las Vegas') appear here, and other selections clearly reflect Parsons preferences (the Louvin Brothers' 'Satan's Jewel Crown' and Buck Owens' 'Together Again'). Harris does Parsons proud, maintaining his traditionalist musical vision while polishing his execution. In so doing, she accomplishes something Parsons never would have; Harris succeeds in reintroducing classic country to mainstream contemporary audiences.

Elvis Presley - From Memphis To Vegas / From Vegas To Memphis (1969/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Elvis Presley
Title: From Memphis To Vegas / From Vegas To Memphis
Genre: Pop Rock, AM Pop, Rock & Roll
Label: © RCA Victor | Sony Music Entertainment
Release Date: 1969/2015
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 01:08:56
Recorded: American Sound Studio in Memphis, on January 13–15 and 21–22, and February 17–18, 1969, and at the International Hotel in Paradise, Nevada on August 24–26, 1969

When Elvis and the Colonel decided it was time to start appearing live again, they assembled a crackerjack band (featuring James Burton) and took on Vegas full-bore. Easily the King's best live album, In Person at the International Hotel featured a slew of hits, including "Johnny B. Goode," "My Babe," the "Mystery Train/Tiger Man" medley, and "Suspicious Minds." If the album had a flaw, it was its skimpy running time (36 minutes). We now know, from the unissued tracks from these same performances that were added to the remastered On Stage (1970), that there was more to the repertory of those five days of August 1969 shows than is represented here; but the producers, limited to a single LP, faced a major problem: Should they weigh the tracks more toward his current repertory and recent singles, or toward his classic songs? The classic songs sort of won out, but in the decades since, those then-recent singles have risen in stature. Regardless of what they're playing, the band really rock throughout, and that's not just Burton -- who sounds like he's wearing his fingers ragged as he puts a new edge on "Hound Dog," coming up with something different than, yet vaguely similar to, Scotty Moore's approach to the song in concert 14 years earlier -- but also the entire guitar contingent of John Wilkinson and Charlie Hodge (not to mention Elvis himself, who strums along here and there) and the muscular rhythm section of bassist Jerry Scheff and drummer Ronnie Tutt. The vocal support by Hodge, Millie Kirkham, the Sweet Inspirations, and the Imperials is soaring and tasteful, never more so than on the album's seven-minute version of "Suspicious Minds" and the soaring finale, "Can't Help Falling in Love."

Made in Brazil marks a musical homecoming for Elias. In her three-decade long career as a solo artist, Made in Brazil results from the first time she’s recorded a disc in her native Brazil since moving to the United States in 1981.
Elias wears many hats on this project as producer, composer, lyricist, arranger, pianist and vocalist. Along with co-producers, Steve Rodby and Marc Johnson, her bass playing musical partner, Elias ventured ‘home’ and recruited a splendid cast of Brazilian musicians that include electric bassist Marcelo Mariano; guitarists Marcus Teixeira and Roberto Menescal; drummers Edu Ribeiro and Rafael Barata; and percussionists Mauro Refosco and Marivaldo dos Santos.
Elias peppered the sessions with delightful special guest performances from Mark Kibble and the multi-GRAMMY® Award winning Gospel vocal group Take 6, her singer/songwriter-daughter Amanda Brecker, one of Brazil’s most celebrated R&B stars, Ed Motta, and renowned bossa nova composer Roberto Menescal. Elias also invited Rob Mathes to handle orchestral arrangements on seven of the 12 tracks, which were recorded in London at the legendary Abbey Road studios.
