Bread was one of the most popular pop groups of the early '70s, earning a string of well-crafted, melodic soft rock singles, all of which were written by keyboardist/vocalist David Gates. A session musician and producer, Gates met in 1968 guitarist/vocalist James Griffin, who had already released a solo album called Summer Holiday. Griffin hired Gates to produce a new album, and the pair soon became a group, adding guitarist/vocalist Robb Royer from the band Pleasure Fair, who Gates had produced early in its career. The trio soon signed with Elektra Records, becoming one of the label's first pop bands. Naming themselves Bread, the group released its self-titled debut album in late 1968. Although it was filled with accessible, melodic soft rock that became the band's signature sound, the record had no hit singles.

Bruckner is the saint, the tzadik, the bodhisattva, the guru among composers. He is the purest and most capable of religious ecstasy. Everything is seen with the clearest vision, built to majestic proportions and felt with deepest emotions. The first melody commences as if it were the purest ever written. But soon the notes of a simple E major triad of divine simplicity give way to a chromatic search surrounding the dominant note ‘b” with a deeply felt human desire. The melody seems to find its calm cadence, but it leaps up again, three times, aiming to attain yet higher ecstasy. And this is only the start... --Iván Fischer

Ludwig van Beethoven - Complete Symphonies - Takashi Asahina, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra (2008/2014) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/192kHz

Сomposer: Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827)
Artist: Takashi Asahina, Osaka Philharmonic Orchestra
Title: Beethoven - Complete Symphonies
Genre: Classical
Label: © Exton
Release Date: 2008/2014
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 192kHz/24bit
Source: DSD64 (converted at KORG AudioGate 2.3.3 / DSD Filter Soft Roll-off -3dB/50kHz / TPDF Diter)
Duration: 06:34:52
Recorded: 1996-97

"Born on July 9, 1908 in Tokyo, Maestro Asahina taught himself the violin and played in the Kyoto University Law School Orchestra. He graduated at the Kyoto University in 1931 with a law degree because his family insisted on a legal career and he stuck with it for as long as he could. Before he became a professional conductor, he joined an Osaka law firm, worked as a sales clerk in a department store and for the Kankyu railway company. One of his favorite jokes was that he was probably the world's only conductor to have operated a train.
Maestro Asahina founded the Kansai Symphony Orchestra, now the Osaka Philharmonic, and remained as its musical director until he passed away on December 29, 2001 at the age of 93. He started his international career in 1956 which he gave a concert with the Berlin Philharmonic. Asahina met Furtwängler in the early 1950s. Furtwängler discussed his views on conducting Bruckner, and Bruckner became one of Asahina's specialties.
Though Asahina often chose to use slower tempi, he managed to get his orchestra to sustain the line over long phrases. Bar lines disappeared, he conducted in paragraphs, not sentences. His sonority was built from the bottom up, founded on the basses and cellos, and also built around a rich string sound. Although the music had force and power, it was never angular, never overly aggressive. It always had beauty, an inner beauty and even spirituality. --Martin Anderson"
