Curtis Stigers - Hooray For Love (2014) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Artist: Curtis Stigers
Title: Hooray For Love
Genre: Jazz, Vocal, Contemporary Jazz, Smooth Jazz
Label: © Concord Music Group
Release Date: 2014
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 96kHz/24bit
Source: HDTracks
Duration: 39:33
Recorded: April 15-17, 2013 at Brooklyn Recording in Brooklyn, NY.

Let’s Go Out Tonight is Curtis Stigers' 10th studio album and was recorded towards the end of a marriage of two decades. On that record, produced by Larry Klein, the singer chose darker material by Dylan, Crowded House and The Blue Nile. The result was a scintillating collection that represents some of the most innovative vocal jazz in a decade. Stigers’ new release is decidedly more upbeat, which he says he owes to a newfound love, but his ability to interpret work from seemingly disparate sources is still on display.

Claude Tchamitchian Quartet - Ways Out (2012) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Frederic Chopin - Polonaises - Maurizio Pollini (1976/2015) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/96kHz

Сomposer: Frédéric Chopin (1810 - 1849)
Artist: Maurizio Pollini
Title: Chopin - Polonaises
Genre: Classical

Recorded: Grosser Saal, Musikverein, Wien, Austria, 11/1975

Here is Pollini in all his early glory, in performances expertly transferred from 1976. Shorn of all virtuoso compromise or indulgence, the majestic force of his command is indissolubly integrated with the seriousness of his heroic impulse. Never have I been compelled into such awareness of the underlying malaise beneath the outward and nationalist defiance of the Polonaises. The tension and menace at the start of No. 2 are almost palpable, its storming and disconsolate continuation made a true mirror of Poland’s clouded history. The C minor Polonaise’s denouement, too, emerges with a chilling sense of finality, and Pollini’s way with the pounding audacity commencing at 3'00'' in the epic F sharp minor Polonaise is like some ruthless prophecy of every percussive, anti-lyrical gesture to come. At 7'59'' Chopin’s flame-throwing interjections are volcanic indeed, and if there is ample poetic delicacy and compensation (notably in the Polonaise-fantaisie, always among Chopin’s most profoundly speculative masterpieces), it is the more elemental side of his genius, his ‘canons’ rather than ‘flowers’ that are made to sear and haunt the memory.
To say that Pollini is ‘cold’ (a recent jury colleague; his exact description seemed to me as blinkered as it was unprintable) is to miss the point, to show an incapacity to identify with ‘other points of view’, with possibilities that lie at the very heart of re-creation. Others may be more outwardly beguiling (Pollini is already a wide step from Rubinstein’s belle epoque elegance or Horowitz’s reminder of Russian romantic pianism at its most volatile) but Pollini’s magnificently unsettling Chopin can be as imperious and unarguable as any on record. That his performances are also deeply moving is a tribute to his unique status. --Bryce Morrison, Gramophone

Recorded live at Jazztopad Festival, Wroclaw, Poland, November 24, 2013

Jazz legend Charles Lloyd has created a suite of compositions written for a meeting of American, Hungarian and Greek musicians. Featuring Greek lyra player Sokratis Sinopoulos and Miklos Lucacs playing the Hungarian gypsy cimbalom, the suite had its world premiere in November 2013 during the Jazztopad Festival held at the Wroclaw Philharmonic Hall in Wroclaw, Poland, in which the ensemble performed the six movements like a flowing orchestral unit.
Blending traditional jazz elements with visceral sounds and textures from antiquity, Lloyd has created something altogether new and exciting.
Charles Lloyd is a world-renowned composer and multi-instrumentalist, and above all one of the greatest jazz saxophonists in the world. He discovered the talent of Keith Jarrett and godfathered the jazz-rock revolution.

Charles Bradley - Victim of Love (2013) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/88.2kHz

Artist: Charles Bradley feat. Menahan Street Band
Title: Victim of Love

Recorded: Dunham Sound Studios

Since the release of 2011’s award winning debut, No Time for Dreaming, Charles Bradley has transformed from a rising star in the Daptone galaxy into a bona-fide headliner, now affectionately known across the globe as "The Screaming Eagle of Soul." The raw emotion and soulfulness of Bradley's voice lifts him up among the greats of the golden age of Soul - Otis, JB, Wilson Pickett, and Darrell Banks. Anyone who has had the privilege of hearing him sing has experienced how Bradley can captivate an entire audience with a simple "Ooooo..." Bradley and writer/producer/multi-instrumentalist Thomas “TNT” Brenneck returned to Dunham studios and recorded the most exciting Daptone release to date, Victim of Love. On this album, Bradley moves past his "Heartaches and Pain" to the great promise of hope and love. Though quite at home among the music that has affirmed Daptone as the world’s #1 authority on Soul Music, Victim of Love proves to be a genre-bending masterpiece, picking up where the early 70’s Temptations left off and edging boldly forward into psychedelic soul exploration.

Celine Dion - The Essential Celine Dion (2011) High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 24bit/88.2kHz

Artist: Celine Dion
Title: The Essential Celine Dion
Genre: Pop, Ballad, Soft Rock, Vocal
Label: © Columbia Records
Release Date: 2011
Quality: High-Fidelity FLAC Stereo 88,2kHz/24bit
Source: ISO SACD
Duration: 02:28:15
Recorded: 1990–2008

Following the first Celine Dion collection, All the Way: A Decade of Song, by roughly a decade, The Essential Celine Dion doubles almost everything about the initial collection: it covers two decades instead of one and has three discs, not one. It's almost an overcompensation for how All the Way concentrated on newer recordings at the expense of hits, but then again, Celine has had more hits in the ten years since All the Way, so it makes sense that Essential is a bigger, grander collection. The problem is, apart from her cover of Roy Orbison's "I Drove All Night," almost none of her new-millennium hits are as memorable as her singles from the '90s, so this triple CD doesn't offer too much of an enticement for fans to replace 1999's single-disc set. But for those listeners who are looking for an overview of Celine Dion's two decades as an international superstar, Essential fits the bill well as it has all her big adult contemporary hits -- "Where Does My Heart Beat Now," "Beauty and the Beast," "If You Asked Me To," "Because You Loved Me," "It's All Coming Back to Me Now," and "My Heart Will Go On" -- all sequenced chronologically. --Stephen Thomas Erlewine
